Dear Shirley, Robert, Christine and families.
We were deeply saddened to hear of Uncle Ken’s passing, and my heart goes out to all of you during this painful time. Though an ocean has separated us for so many years, Ken always held a special place in our family’s story — as Dad’s brother, as the warm, welcoming voice on the other end of rare phone calls, and as the man who crossed the Atlantic twice to visit us here in Canada when we were younger. Those memories, though distant, have stayed vivid and precious.
What I will always be most grateful for is the gift of last September, when we were finally able to travel to England and spend time with him and all of you. Walking through the beautiful gardens at his home, sharing stories, and especially the afternoon he gently guided us down to the old homestead where he and Dad grew up —it felt like a quiet miracle. To see the places of their childhood through his eyes, to hear his quiet pride and affection for the land and for family, was something we will carry forever. We feel extraordinarily fortunate that those days were given to us, and that we were able to tell him in person how much he meant to us.
Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Uncle Ken’s kindness, his stories, and the love he showed so easily lives on in everyone who knew him.
With all our love and deepest sympathy,
Alan and Gail Moir and family
